SPRUCE GROVE REAL ESTATE

Spruce Grove Alberta The City of Spruce Grove is located at the geographic centre of Alberta, approximately 11 kilometres west of the provincial capital of Edmonton. Spruce Grove is easily accessed by the major transportation routes of Highway 16A and the Trans-Canada Yellowhead Highway 16. Spruce Grove is located close to Highway 60, an important route to the south and Highway 43 north to Alaska.

Spruce Grove is Alberta's 16th largest city and is now one of western Canada's fastest growing communities. Spruce Grove is named for the stands of tall spruce trees in the area, and was originally settled by French and Scottish families in 1891. With the arrival of the railroad, the community became a busy grain trading center. Spruce Grove became a village in 1955, became a town in 1971, and a city in 1986. Spruce Grove's recreation includes an indoor pool with hot tub and toddler pool, and the Arena with curling rinks and twin ice arenas.

Today, Spruce Grove has a population of almost 16,000 residents and it's land mass covers over 26 square kilometers.
