Evansburg is named after Henry Marshall Erskine Evans, former mayor of Edmonton and advisor to the Alberta Government. Located 39 km (24 mi.) south of Mayerthorpe, the village is home to the Pembina Lobstick Historical Museum. Evansburg is located in the Drayton Valley district atop a high plateau between the North Saskatchewan and Pembina Rivers, where the agricultural land of the east meet the forested foothills of the west.
Today, Evansburg has a population nearly 800 people and it's land mass covers just over 2 square kilometers.
